Starting to see some autumn colours.

It’s been quite a cruisey day really, and didn’t get
organised that early. We are really enjoying this accommodation and such a nice
small town, and have booked another night. I walked about 100 metres to the
boulangerie and couldn’t believe my eyes, the most amazing array of cakes,
savoury tarts and breads, all made at the shop. Came away with some bread, some
olive pastry and two small quiches but they are open tomorrow morning and think
there are some fig tarts that have my name written on them! Then popped into a
very small grocery store to get a few things, thought it was closed but opened
the door from the street and felt like I had stepped back in time. Really enjoy
experiencing life in these small villages. Then discovered that the host is a
hairdresser and has a shop about 50 metres from here. Popped in to see if she
could cut my hair, and got an appointment at 5.30. This town has everything!!!
Went for a drive around Le Pic St-Loup, a really interesting
area with high mountain peaks and vineyards in the valleys, this is the
Languedoc Region of France. Took a route that we could never have driven in the
motorhome around the l’Herault Gorge, quite spectacular. Thought we would stop
in a village for lunch, but even though we are in a car, parking seems to be at
a premium in these small places. We eventually parked in a small town, only to
find that there were no cafes so we ended up stopping at a supermarket for some
supplies and got back to the apartment at 3 for a very late lunch.
Blandine did a great job of my hair, and even though she
spoke no English we managed to communicate with Google Translate and my little
bit of French. And she sent my home with some wild boar casserole that her
father had made, he is a hunter. That is tomorrow nights dinner!
