Monday October 3, Millau

Amazing cloud formation this morning.

Had a long chat (via Google Translate!) with our wonderful host this morning before we left. It’s really been a special place to stay. Starting to get used to living out of suitcases, and do enjoy staying a few days in each place.

Jilly had a quick route to Millau up the motorway but I educated her and we took some lesser roads that were very windey but took us through some interesting scenery. Stopped en route at Le Vigan at a boulangerie and had a really good coffee and a superb pain au chocolat. I’m really getting to enjoy this French lifestyle.

In 2017 we passed through Millau in our camper, and drove under the amazing viaduct, and as we drove in today we could see it in the distance, it really is so impressive.

Arrived in Millau early afternoon and a stop to pick up some supplies and arranged to meet our host at the apartment mid afternoon. Quite a different sort of place than the last, it is in on the first floor of an apartment block and has a small deck with a wonderful view of the Tarn River below and the surrounding hills that are starting to glow with the yellow colours of autumn.  We were able to unpack the car beside the building, but free parking was about 8 minutes walk away.

Had a relax and walked into town for dinner tonight. Being a Monday night not many places were open but found a really nice restaurant and enjoyed an excellent meal. It was fun finding our way home walking through the maze of little streets. Looking forward to a proper explore tomorrow.

Missing that I can’t take the drive by photos that I did from the motorhome, we are, of course, lower to the ground and the visibility is much less. But managing…just!

A small chateau beside the road.
