Saturday October 15, Baden Baden

A little slow this morning after a rather good evening! Got chatting to a German couple, school teachers Sybille and Martin who live not that far away. They were just on the road overnight, and asked us to visit them, they live high up in the Black Forest with views out over vineyards…..to good an opportunity to turn down, so will go and see them tomorrow afternoon.
The plan today was to go to Baden Baden and Jilly worked the route out, but we hadn’t even left town and the road was closed that necessitated a huge detour up in the Bavarian Hills, but couldn’t complain as it turned out be a very nice drive. Down in the valley again at Gaggenau, but once again our route south was closed. Managed to find another route that added quite a few more km’s, all I can say is thank goodness for Jilly as don’t know how we would managed without her. Seem to have had so many road closures over the past few days, and have relied on the GPS.
Finally got into Baden Baden about an hour later than expected and headed to a Stellplatz, nothing flash but decided it would be okay. No historic town nearby but a huge shopping centre. It was quite a walk but the weather has really warmed up so very pleasant. Back to the van by mid afternoon and decided with such nice weather it was a good opportunity to have as big clean up and do a bit of washing. Need to find somewhere to wash Ruakiwi though as she really is looking rather dirty.

...Sunday...We are at Sybille and Martin's and able to load the last few days blogs using their wifi. Fabulous day...will write the blog later!
This is for for the granddaughters...they were telling me about going to H&M in NZ

A heron in the middle of the stream running through town.
