First visit to a Swedish Supermarket

We certainly had quite a storm last night, the thunder and lightning and rain went on till the early hours and then the wind got up for quite some time. But this morning it was clear and still and the sun came out.

Over breakfast we often pour over maps working out where we will head for the day, always interesting when you have no itinerary! And today the decision was just to head North through the centre of Sweden, and set Jilly for Vaxjo.

Stopped at a supermarket close by, and our first experience of a Swedish grocery store. It was a great store, not too big, but a huge variety to choose from and we were a bit overwhelmed working out what things were and also working out the prices. A Swedish Krone is approximately 5 times more than a NZ$. Actually, found the prices very similar to NZ.

It was another really interesting drive that took us from the very quaint villages around the coast to arable farming land and then into vast areas of forests, with lakes everywhere. They are so picturesque and enjoyed having a play with my camera. The lunch stop was beside a lake just north of Vaxjo.  Over lunch we checked out the app of where we might overnight and found this free spot, perfect.  Up till now we had been driving on quite a busy road so decided to use some lesser roads for the last hour, and such a good call as they passed through lots of smaller villages and not a lot of traffic, but still a very good road.  The temperatures are a little cooler today and although the sun was shining the wind was blowing.

Impressionist style!

Plenty of firewood

Country homes

Evening light

Spotted this at the lake tonight, what a great
little machine, maybe need one at Tarawera.

Great reflections

Love your “fun with camera” photos, … love all of them actually 😘
The lesser roads are the way to go if time permits, we did that in Ireland and Scotland mostly
