Friday July 1, Krokas

Tonight's picture perfect campspot.

We’ve had a cracker of a day, with lots happening. The bikes came out first thing and we cycled about 3 kms into Ystad on a great cycle path. Locked our bikes to a bike stand and then had a wander around this rather delightful old town, with its half-timbered houses and cobbled streets. The main street is pedestrian only and people were out just wandering around or having breakfast at the cafes. The shops didn’t open until 10 and then everything hummed. Lots of bikes and intrigued with a convoy of three that appeared to be from a preschool, each bike had a large bin in the front with three wheels and held 4 children. A bit like the old grocer’s delivery bikes. Checked out a haberdashery shop for knitting yarn but not a huge selection. Back to camp, and after a coffee we headed off.

We needed to empty our waste water and fill with fresh water and it seems to be less simple to find than in other countries especially when we are not staying at designated camp grounds. We were heading north and found a place on our route on Park4Night and got Jilly organised.

Today’s drive took us through a lot of farming and cropping land, mainly wheat and grain. And everywhere there were trees. Very picturesque. Stopped on the way for a late lunch then found the rest area where we emptied our tanks but no fresh water. A local sent us about a km down the road to a fuel station where we were able to use their fresh water, and we also put some diesel in the tank….ouch!!! Heard tonight that Sweden has the highest fuel price in Europe!! And spotted a motorhome store in town and time to stock up on chemicals for the toilet.

Then it was onto Krokas, another P4N find, and what a spot. It’s the most delightful little old fishing harbour which the camping site overlooks. Picture perfect and so peaceful. The sun was shining and we chatted to some of the other campers. Then the thunder came in and it started to rain. Still very nice to be sitting in the van looking out to sea.

Last night it looked like we were in for a storm
but nothing eventuated.

Hows this for a pushchair!

And these are the "kid transporter" bikes.

Such picturesque countryside.

Quaint cottages in Krokas..the roses are superb.

Laid back!!!

Glad you had a great day until the rain set in! Those bikes made me chuckle, that's what Robbie has for carting his border collie June around in Melbourne!
