Wismar town square - with a bit of camera play!!!

When we were driving into Ratzeberg yesterday, spotted a fuel station with diesel at €1.99 so we headed back there this morning before we left, only to find it had gone up by €.10! Went ahead and filled up anyway and during the rest of the mornings drive all stations were more expensive. We also changed our 11kg gas cylinder, it still had a little gas in it, but wanted to take two full tanks with us, they are both German and not sure how we will get on filling them in Sweden, although from what we have read it is possible. And the price has increased a lot since last time we were here…€45, although we very seldom pay for an electric hook up so it is needed to run our fridge.

It was a very pleasant drive through to Wismar this morning, the countryside is more rolling and quite a bit of cropping. In 2016 we spent two nights in Wismar at this same camp, and loved it so much, were keen to return for our last night in Germany.

Thankfully the weather has cooled a little since yesterday, although still pleasantly warm and this afternoon we walked the 1km into the centre of town. Like Lubeck, this Hanseatic town is a UNESCO heritage site and the buildings around the huge market square have been maintained. Sadly, the two main churches were almost demolished in the final air raid in 1945. One of them has been rebuilt. We sampled a local beer while having a wee rest in the town square, and it was really good.

Ian decided to head back to the wharves to check out the boats and I had some time to have a play with my camera…have included a few of the shots. It’s been another great day. And thanks everyone for your comments on the blog…really appreciate them. Might be late getting my blog done tomorrow as don’t arrived in Sweden until after 9pm and then have an hours drive to our camp.

A sign to be wary of on these narrow tree
lined roads.

Look carefully, this dog and cat are
formed from a sandy material.

These pieces of stone have been
saved after the cathedral was bombed.

Some really lovely art creations there Meg. We are a bit familiar with this area which is just north of where Lars lives near Neumunster. We have visited Kiel and Lubeck and sampled the marzipan ! Good to hear van repaired and you're on your way .
