Sunday June 26, Ratzeberg

Had a surprisingly good sleep, even with really only sleeping in a car park close to town and lots of vehicles and people enjoying their Saturday night fun.  The weather has certainly turned very warm, as we set off about 9.30 in our walking shoes and meandered around town. Such a good time to see the city without lots of traffic and people. This is an old town and the heritage of the old buildings has been maintained, saw some dating from the 1200’s. The skyline is dominated by the spires of seven churches, and form part of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Came upon a brass band playing, and found out they were from a small area in Norway and had come to Germany for a competition. Great music and enjoyed sitting in the shade listening to them.

Enjoyed just meandering through the streets and got back to the van about midday, very, very hot!!! Our Swiss neighbours had mentioned the town of Ratzeberg, only about half an hours drive away, and after finding a good camping area we set Jilly and we were off. It was over 30 by the time we arrived, just too hot to go walkabout, so a leisurely Sunday afternoon sitting in the shade catching whatever breeze we could. We did go for a walk later on when it had cooled and checked out the lake, very impressed.

We have booked the ferry to Sweden on Tuesday, so have had a bit more time up our sleeve with no need to rush.

All the photos are from this mornings walk.
