Tonight's view of the Baltic, rather moody! |
Yes, we have made it, almost 48 hours later! It’s been a long day and feeling a bit weary, probably because I didn’t sleep that well thinking about getting up at 5am!
We were through Passport Control by 5.45 then in the queue to load and plenty of time to have breakfast before we loaded at 7am. This was a Stena Line ferry, the same company we use to cross to Holland but it wasn’t as swept up. We paid a little extra and got recliner chairs and they were great, I laid back and dosed off a few times. And once again the weather gods were smiling, it was a dead flat 6 hour crossing, even the multitude of wind tubines were not moving!
Nice weather arriving into Trellenberg, with blue skies, but it has turned very murky with rain forecast. We took the slower route around the coast which was so picturesque, passing through the most beautiful little towns with really quaint houses. Found a spot on the way through to empty our cassette. Had heard that fuel was expensive in Sweden but shocked to see the price of diesel, 25.9SKR/Litre which converts to NZ$5.80…..yikes!!!
We had found a camping site just out of town right on the Baltic that was an hours drive from the ferry, and its perfect. Needed to blow the cobwebs away so wandered down to the beach and pleasantly surprised with the white sand. White and Pink rugosa roses are growing wild on the foreshore and the perfume is amazing. Guess we have been lucky with the weather so far but tonight its certainly not that inviting!
