Wednesday October 8 Cross Creek Campground, Delaware OH
Great news….back on the road again. We had an uneventful night in the carpark, although it started raining during the night. Set the alarm so that we were ready for when the garage opened. While we waited in their comfortable lounge, they discovered that one of the brake callipers had frozen, so after getting hold of a new one, they had it fitted and we were back on the road again by midday. What brilliant service.
It was still raining, not a good day for sightseeing, so we headed firstly to Sunbury, which was a very small town, with a town square and a number of antique shops. Had a look around, but not overly inspiring, maybe it was because of the rain!
Decided to head to Delaware which turned out to be quite a charming town, with some interesting architecture. Found a great restaurant for a very late lunch, a nice interlude on a wet day. I found a great book store to browse in while Ian wandered around the antique shops. As a University town, home of Weslyean University, the shops seemed to reflect the type of customers. Finally found the campground after I put the wrong street address in, although the rain had stopped and we drove through some large cropping areas. The camp is really tidy with great facilities….and row upon row of large good quality motorhomes, that seem to be settled in for longer stays! These are real communities. Halloween is being celebrated this weekend, and there are decorations everywhere…including big blow up pumpkins and ghosts. It is another bonanza for the retailers!
