Thursday August 11, Stubbekobing

A very impressive boat at the marina.
Another cracker of a day, not a cloud in the sky and pleasantly warm. A little slower getting moving this morning…left overs from yesterday!!! We wanted to spend another day in Denmark and our last in Scandinavia before we cross back to Germany so did a look on Park4Night and found this marina at the small town of Stubbekobing and what a find. I think this is one of the joys of motor homing in Europe, we never know what sort of place we will find, some are much better than others and this is one of the good ones.

We took the motorway south and once we passed through the busy 4 lanes of the city section it was a great drive, lots of rural land and harvesting of the wheat was well underway.  Stubbekobing, according to Wikipedia has a population of under 2500 people. Stopped at Aldi and picked up a few supplies then down to the marina, to our parking space, a great spot, and with a nice breeze blowing the 26 degrees were extremely pleasant. I walked into town this afternoon and so impressed with all the older buildings, and read these are from the 18th century and many are merchants houses.  But the highlight for me was spotting a sign advertising an exhibition at the small local museum of knitting designs from two local designers along with garments from Kaffe Fausett collection. Had a great chat with Inger, a local lady who was looking after the exhibition for the afternoon. It really made my day.  Continued walking through the town which was so peaceful and felt like I had stepped back in time.

This is perfect weather and really enjoyed sitting outside soaking up the sun. Ended up having a great chat with our Danish “neighbours” talking over a few wines!

Busy harvesting season.

We were close to the water and crossed
several islands.

So enjoyed chatting with Inger
at the exhibition.

Thanks for the ball of petunias, simply awesome. Firstly I looked at the images in large which don't show your words, and did a quiet wow when I saw the balls of prettiness. And the neat pattern jersey, you will be coming away with ideas/patterns. You have a knack of finding these interesting craft/wool places. This little town does look so lovely, the buildings beautiful....and thats the way to harvest wheat, in the silo in no time.
