Monday August 8, Jyllinge

Beautiful evening.

Finally woke to a great morning with sun shining, even had to walk down and test the temperature of the water, which was a little fresh!  I do admire all the hearty souls who go swimming. Think we are in slow mode, as a very leisurely start. We ambled along some back country roads enjoying this area with so many older farm houses with thatched roofs. Often see them painted in terracotta with contrasting window frames, saw some in soft blue and others with army green, they really work well.

We called into a marina where we were able to do the van ablutions. Then back onto the main roads to head further south and not so many traditional houses. Learning to read the different road signs in Denmark, notice the speed limit is often not written, especially when coming into a smaller town there is only the name for the town with a stylised town sign above it. It keeps us on our toes. Spotted a Lidl store and picked up a few supplies then onto this marina listed in Park4Night. A great setup with spaces for 8 campers, well spaced out and met the very friendly harbour master when we paid for the night.

It’s been quite a laid back afternoon, and with a hose close by I set to and handwashed our microfibre towels and a few other bits of clothes and hung them out in the sun on my rack, and by 8pm they were all dry. Ian wandered around the marina checking out the boats and even got invited onto one of them, a very happy lad and I took my camera and went for a walk around the edge of the harbour. Had a few spits of rain this morning but the weather has really improved this afternoon and it certainly is getting warmer. We sat outside this evening and soaked up the sun.

Just love these old houses.

Camera play with the grasses!

This wheat is close to harvesting.

And one from last night on the coast.

Pleased the weather is coming right, sounds a really lovely day …. Isn’t the thatched house and garden so attractive, and being a cockies daughter that wheat looks as if it will yield well, haha
