July 9, Klovsand, Just north of Stromsund

A very wet drive north this morning!

The rain continued all night, but it eased off this morning although the forecast for today was continuing rain with temperatures hitting 11 degrees, and into tomorrow is more rain. Guess we have been spoilt up to now with the weather.

Today we headed for Stromsund at the start of HW 342 which is known as the Wilderness Route. It’s 350km long. Have been reading up about it online and it looks amazing, really remote but some great scenery, waterfalls and even an old Sami village as we get into Lapland. Knowing that there would probably be very little in the way of shops, we stopped at Lidl in town before we left and stocked up. The other issue of course with freedom camping is managing the fresh water supply and the toilet cassette which only last for 3 days. Normally with staying at campgrounds this is available. Park4Night has so much information about where to get water and emptying tanks etc and did quite a bit of research. Found a garage in town where you could fill with fresh water, so filled the tank with diesel before using their water supply. And found a reststop on E45, the road north, where you could empty the toilet cassette. All sorted.

The whole way it rained, and only got to 10 degrees, felt like we were in NZ winter. Ian is keen to try his hand at some salmon fishing on this road so stopped at a Sports Shop in Stromsund and the guy advised him on the best lures to use. Watch this space!!!

Decided to have a rest afternoon as the weather was not letting up and located a good spot using P4N about 10 kms from town on a large lake. Once we got to the lake it was wonderful but the navigator sent us down a rather muddy track, that looped around to the proper track. Anyway, we made it and just perfect to spend the afternoon with our books as the rain continues. Its not really heavy rain, or drizzle but just keeps dripping down. Popped a chicken casserole in the oven as no chance of using the barbecue today!

There is very little signal here so not sure if I can get this blog loaded today.  10th July…just found a spot on the road to load the blog. Might not be able to load many over the next few days.!

Just a small part of this large timber yard, looks
like these were ready for pulp.

A very new roadside stop, great for emptying!

This was todays forecast!

Ian in his happy place, and as always,
dressed for the cold weather!

A wet weather spot for tonight.

This area indeed looks so scenic, and possibly gets its fare share of rain. Love the trees and your M Exposures. Hope the fish bite Ian.

Super northern woodland images Meg and Ian clearly at home amongst all that fishing gear. Dazzling red doors on the service stop building! Jen
