Love seeing the red poppies on the edges
of the crops.

The horses weren’t put out last night and realised why when we had some thunderstorms and squalls during the night. It had cleared this morning but I missed seeing them getting put out!

The weather is definitely cooler with quite a breeze, but not complaining as can easily put a sweater on. Before leaving we did our normal filling and emptying ablutions. Certainly not one of the easiest spots to do it in, and have to say this area was pretty “rustic”, but we really enjoyed being able to park in the field with its open space.

We found our destination today on the Park4Night app, on the Mitteland Canal. It was a very easy drive, mainly on the motorways but with great views of the countryside, passing through lots of green areas with some smaller areas of farming and small traditional villages with their brick houses.

This is such a great spot, nose almost into the canal and lots of barges and pleasure boats cruising past. This canal was built in the early 1900’s and is a major east-west shipping link. It creates a link well beyond Germany to many other European countries.

Went for a wander along the canal this afternoon, a rather nice area especially looking across the paddocks of ripening wheat to the neighbouring village.

And friend Cliff could tell me that the birds I saw yesterday were Storks….Thanks!

Tonights campsite

We have seen lots of these canal type boats
cruising past

Growing beside the canal

Rather typical German brick house.

Where we are tonight.

Meant to share this yesterday, along the
Promenade that encircles Munster, tree lined bike
path with a seperate pedestrian path and
no cars!

Looks like a lovely place to camp. The bike path looks very civilized. I must confess when you talked about the numbers of horses all I could think of was how much poop that needs to be picked up😂

Kia ora Meg n Ian, the shortest day here in Richmond and it started with a light frost on the ute in the driveway, easy to clear the windows for the 35 min drive to launching the boat at gentlemen's hour of 9 am. The sun did break thru as forecast so the later part of the fishing was warm enough, lots of unwanted species and small sizes, only a very modest two family meals catch. Thank you for sharing your adventure, a delight to follow you each day. Love Vicki n Ed
