Sunday August 11, Weissehutte

Evening at the camp....using a slow shutter!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here with it’s very low key, informal campground even down to having a flock of ewes and lambs in the neighbouring field. After a night of rain the weather really improved yesterday. Bikes out and we headed downstream to Bad Karlshafen along one of the best cycle paths we have been on. It was sealed all the way and very wide. It generally followed the river most of the way as it wound its way through very picturesque countryside with hay being cut, lots of maize, quite a number of horses and many small villages. At several spots there were cable operated river punts to take cyclists across the river, there are cycle paths on both sides and they are well used. Our fitness is improving and we rode much of the way without using electric power, except when there were little hills!!
We had a well earned lunch in Bad Karlshafen, really nice and good to have a sit! Used a bit more power on the ride home, the legs were feeling a tad tired but we were quite chuffed to finish at just under 45 kms, our biggest ride yet, and one our most enjoyable.
Today it was time to have a bit of a clean up, also caught up with the washing using the camps machine. The weather was really nice so hung the washing on a line at the van and it was dry in no time. Had a short ride today, feeling a bit slow after yesterdays ride!! And some more light rain late this afternoon….the weather is certainly not settled.
Picturesque country

Even some sheep!!

A patch of the dead trees that we have seen in this area.

Have seen very few sunflowers this trip, we were too
early in Italy.

The "farmer" was impressed with this hoe.
