Monday August 19, Tolkamer, Netherlands

Pretty spectacular.

In 2017 Conny and Hitten completed a four month overland return trip to Beijing in their 4 wheel drive camper, joining a group of 18 other vans. Yesterday we had a great evening when Horst, who was also on the journey, visited. He is 75 and since his wife died six years ago, travels by himself, and we heard about the trip he is making to South America next month. His 5.5 metre van will be shipped from Hamburg where he will pick it up when it arrives four weeks later for a four month journey. A real adventurer.
This morning the sun was shining as we said goodbye after another wonderful visit. We took the autobahn to bypass all the big cities around Dusseldorf and headed once again to Tolkamer on the Rhine. We have been here a few times now on our travels and just really enjoy this Stellplatz which overlooks the river and we can watch the hundreds of boats that pass by every day. There is never a dull moment.
A leisurely afternoon with a walk into the village to the information centre to pay the camp fees. The sky had looked rather threatening and after quite a heavy downpour the sun came out with a rather spectacular rainbow.
Great view

Everyone was out having a look!

Just on dark a large container barge pulled up at the
wharf to load a car and crew member.

..and Conny and Hitten's beautiful
garden that I forgot to load!
