A foggy start to the day. |
The electrics on the drivers window of Ruakiwi have been a
problem since the beginning of this years trip, and we ended up taping the nob
up so that Ian wouldn’t inadvertently try to put it down….there were times that
it took some time before it would go back up again, not the best for security!!
Several companies had a look at it but couldn’t sort it out without the wiring
diagram which could only come from Rapido, who responded to our email and said
we needed to visit a Rapido agent to have it sorted.
Today we were not far from one in Poitiers so decided to see
what we could sort out. One of the girls spoke a bit of English but they said
they couldn’t look at it until the end of October. Suggested we try another
motorhome place a bit further north. Thought we would try again but had to wait
until 2pm until they opened again after their two hour lunch break.
Thankfully I had Google translate as no one spoke English. A
guy came out and checked fuses etc then they contacted Mercedes to get a wiring
diagram from them. They told us to wait, but finally after five they said that
they hadn’t received it and wouldn’t get it until next week. By this stage we
were well and truly over trying to get it sorted and gave up. It is very
difficult to make these sorts of appointments when you are travelling as we
never know when we will be in a place.
Finally at six we arrived at an Aire in Lencloitre which is
close to a Via Verde cycle path which we are keen to ride on tomorrow. And
spotted it as we drove in and it is sealed, we didn’t want another rough one
like yesterday!

It turned into a very nice day. |
