It is hard to describe the trip we did today following the Lochsa River, absolutely stunningly beautiful. It just seemed around every corner there was another magnificent vista. Don’t think we have ever travelled on a road that had the river as the edge for over 125 miles, and all the way along new streams joined in. It truly was breathtaking and one of the best we have been on in our travels.
We slept like logs last night with the river pouring over boulders beside our camp. Knowing that it was going to be a really hot day we set off reasonably early for us…about 8.30 as we planned a hike up to Warm Creek Falls and wanted to do it in the cooler part of the day. It was a great hike, about 1 ½ miles each way in the trees following the creek. It opened out into an area where hot water emerged from the ground and flowed over boulders into a number of pools before it reached the creek. There was also one pool out in a meadow that seemed to be full of minerals and made me feel really buoyant. The closer you got to the creek the cooler the pools got, just a wonderful way to start the day. There were only a handful of others there, just loved that fact that you could enjoy nature without having to pay for it.
Had a bit of a holdup on the road with an accident, a huge semi had rolled and evidently there had been a fatality. Not sure when it happened but the wreckers were there pulling it out.

Continued on down the road and found a good spot in the shade beside the river for lunch. Gradually the river widened out and we left the forest and the hills became far more open and rocky. Passed through a few small towns and it felt quite sad to have left behind all that beauty and wilderness.
We are camped in a Bureau of Land Management Camp beside the river tonight, although no views. Put the awning up and sitting with a nice breeze blowing. It is over 36 degrees….

Food photography was fun , bret lucas came and graded them all.. Nicki won! We all learnt alot more! Suggested using a black cloth? Board to absorb excess light but cant do that in a restaurant!
Loved one of mine with the city in the background!
What have you been eating? Any trout?? All those rivers id expect ian to have caught something!
No trout...fishing licences are really difficult when you are changing from state to state and every river and every section of every river have different rule!!!
