Tuesday September 14, Dungeness Recreation Area, WA

Guess it had to be done, we are a week away from flying home and as we are going to be staying with friends during this time decided that today was the day to clean out Ruakiwi and get organized with what is going to need to be packed for departure.
The fog was still really thick this morning, went for a bit of a walk, the cobwebs were beautiful, hundreds of them with the water drops from the fog caught on the fine threads. Many had little spiders as well, this is something I am not used to seeing. The sun came up and shone through the fog creating real shafts of light in the trees.
But work had to be done, and by late afternoon we were all done, ready to have Ruakiwi put into storage next week
Tomorrow afternoon we are visiting Witta and Dick Priester in Sequim for a few days. Witta is a good friend who I have met through photography, they spend 6 months of the year in Christchurch and 6 months here in Sequim. Guess there will be a bit of “techno” talk going on!
On Friday we catch the ferry across the bay from Port Townsend for our final destination at Ancortes, Seattle where we are staying with Sherry and Terry Barbour, who are my brother’s sister and brother in law. Sounds complicated! Anyway Terry has arranged storage for the van for which we are very grateful.
The fog did clear for a little while late this afternoon, but by sunset it was rolling back in again, there is not a breath of wind.
Ian hauled out all the last bits of firewood he had ferreted away and tonight we had the last bonfire of the season, a real beauty, and we needed it as the evening cooled really quickly after sunset. The weather seems to be telling us it is time to go home!

Have enjoyed following you in your travels. Have a safe return trip and look forward to catching up with you at the lake in a couple of weeks.

We have been home for a week! Lots of cleaning -- rig and house, plus yard. Sounds like you are ready for the journey home! Keep in touch and it was so great to meet you; just wish we had waited another day for the Cassiar Highway! Where are you headed for next year?
