August 8 Friday, KOA Campground, Renfrew, ON
The weather has cooled a little, and heard on the radio today that we are about 18 degrees, noticing it much cooler. Traveled through quite a few squalls…the first major rain we have had during the day since we started. The sun is out this evening, so hopefully the weather will improve.
We were away soon after 9 this morning. First stop at Mamora, to investigate a waterway and dam in a very nice park, had a good walk to start the day off. Contined East and topped up the supplies at Madoc, a pretty ordinary sort of town. Turned off 7, and headed north on 41, came across a heap of cars at a small town called Cloyne…there was a art and craft fair going on, so we stretched our legs and wandered through it, lots of stalls, but nothing really appealing. We started climbing into a more remote area and the scenery was superb, rocky outcrops with lakes and rivers. Starting to see more pine trees, and less maples, and surprised to see a little colour appearing on some of the maple trees…here’s hoping there may be an early fall. Found a good spot for a lunch break overlooking Mazinaw Lake, appeared to be a very deep lake with high rocky faces directly above the water. As we drove futher north we passed through some quite remote communities, an excellent road, and finally arrived in Renfrew…which didn’t have a lot going for it. Booked into the camp about 4.30, and surprised to see a number of trees surrounding the camp lake had quite a bit of colour in them. The camp was on wifi, great to be able to catch up with all the family on a Saturday morning in New Zealand.

Enjoy the new bikes. I'm assuming you didn't mean to finish the previous blog entry mid-sentence?
