Monday September 26, St Remy de Provence

Walking into get pizzas tonight and the carnival
that is on at the moment was just starting to get
going.

Packed up this morning, and not sorry to be leaving, it certainly wasn’t what we expected. And with no comfortable chairs to sit in, Ian’s back was complaining a bit!  Back into Tarascan to the supermarket and picked up a few supplies, and the pharmacy for some more paracetamol. The hosts from the new accommodation called and arranged for us to arrive at 12.45, which was perfect as we were both a bit under the weather and weren’t planning on doing much.

We really have landed on our feet with this apartment and so pleased we have a 5 night stay. The host met us and guided us through the security for the large apartment block. The parking is underground and once again pretty tight but Ian managed. Then it was into the lift an up to the 2nd floor, and a very spacious one bedroom apartment with a balcony that overlooks the hills. The only downside is the rain over the last few days has brought the mosquitoes to life!!!

We settled in and after a late lunch, Ian put his feet up while I walked into town, we are less than 5 minutes walk away from this charming old French town, which I have yet to explore. First stop was at a pharmacy to get some spray for the mossies and an anti itch cream. Then it was a 10 minute walk to the supermarket. Sue and Ian are coming around later this afternoon and I wanted to get a few French nibbles!

They spent a great day in Arles, and we will probably go there later in the week. We had such a great evening, sitting out on the deck, keeping our distance in the fresh air, and enjoying a few wines (!) and lots of chatting. Decided not to walk into town for dinner, Sue and I popped along the road and bought pizzas which were perfect. Feeling very relaxed and planning on another quiet day tomorrow to get through Covid.

Always amazes me when you see these buildings
as you drive along!

The carnival had finished but spotted these
still in the street.

Interesting...will check it out.
Having their daily chat!

More wonderful memories.
