The weather is changing!
|
It’s been another really hot day with temperatures hitting
over 29 when we left camp this morning, it was such a great place to stay. We headed
south today and ended up on the motorway through Wurzeburg, and very happy when
we got to the other side. The sky was very threatening and we even caught the
edge of a rain shower. The country we passed through is looking so dry and we
noticed a number of places where the grasses on the side of the road had burnt.
After a lunch stop on the motorway we continued towards this town where we had seen
a camping area beside a winery. After leaving the motorway we stopped at a Lidl
to stock up for the weekend then onto the P4N site at a local winery. Probably
not the prettiest we have been in, but it is very quiet street and we got the
chairs out onto the grass. Wandered into the winery and met the winemaker
Raymond. Turns out 25 years ago he was in NZ in Martinborough for the harvest. He
spoke great English and was able to explain the different wines we sampled, and
they were very good. His wife came in with some green and black table grapes
for us, just so sweet and a really different flavour. Came to pay for the wines
we had bought and found he only takes cash! Thankfully I was able to dig deep
and find enough to pay, and then walked down into the village to the ATM. But it
didn’t like my Visa, it only used Mastercard, so will have to find a different
bank tomorrow. Seems we really need cash in Germany.
While I am writing this, there is a huge thunderstorm with
some rain, hopefully will cool the air a little and I am sure the locals will
be happy with any rain they can get.
