Monday June 13, Kessel-Eik

After three very pleasant days at the Marina, we were back on the road again. Initially planned to visit Unesco World Heritage site at Kinderdijk to view the windmills but as it meant heading back towards Rotterdam decided we would leave it until the end of our travels. Found a great camping spot at a marina beside the Maas River about 1 ½ hours drive in the direction of Conny and Hitten’s. Most of the drive was on Motorways which were really busy with just so many trucks. The navigator thankfully had another good day, negotiating the many interchanges, but it was good to leave the A roads behind. I’ve probably said it before but we are always pleasantly surprised by how clean and tidy Holland is, especially the farm buildings.

Arrived at the marina at Neer by midday, but all 15 spots had been taken. So disappointed as such a wonderful place, right on the river. So back to the drawing board and found another well rated camping ground less than 5 kms away, in a very attractive park like setting.  No river views but still very nice. After lunch decided not to get the bikes out but go walking along the path down to the river…needed some real exercise! Passed through wheat fields and then into a bushy area, but couldn’t get right down to the water.  Ended up being further than we initially thought, but the 1 ½ hour hike certainly did us good!

Weather continues to be very pleasant, sunny days with temperatures around 20 degrees. Today's photos are from this afternoons walk. And thanks for all the comments on the blog, really appreciate them.

Have no idea what breed these sheep are!
