Very little photography today!!!

It’s a very short blog as it’s been a rather disappointing day, a rude awakening to the holiday season in Austria.

Our destination was a camp on a small lake near Bad Aussee, in an area that several people had recommended. We enjoyed the drive which continued on through the valley that we rode through yesterday before turning up into another valley. Excellent road and very nice scenery.

Wound our way up into the camp area on a rather small road and very surprised to see a full sign up at 1pm, and it was a big camp that was just chocker. Such a nice area, we felt so disappointed as some very good cycling in the area. Back down the road to a parking area where we got the maps out to see where to now. Found a couple of camping areas at the end of Lake Traunsee that look promising so continued on, but they were both full to overflowing.

Very frustrating. Back to the drawing board and found this town parking area for motorhomes with only 6 places but thought we would give it a go as it wasn’t near a lake or hiking and biking trails. We have now left the mountains behind and the amazing scenery, and the scenery is quite similar to Germany.

With great relief arrived to find four other campers here so very quickly parked up and hooked up to electricity. Surprisingly there are no charges, it is supplied free by the town. And in a great spot beside a very nice park and a small river. Lots of trees so we soon had our chairs out sitting under the trees in the shade, very welcome as todays temperatures have been in the low 30’s. Happy to chill out and relax.

Poured over maps tonight and planning to head to the Danube area and try our luck there as some great cycling in that area.
