Saturday July 27, Aggsbach Markt

After the thunderstorm the hills above the river
were very "moody".
Have to admit to using the air conditioning in the van for the first time last night. It was really hot and humid and no breeze, but we slept really well. Woke to a much cooler morning thankfully, and then the thunder started and we had a full on thunder storm till mid-morning. Had plans for a long bike ride but that got put on hold. The forecast was clear for a few hours and then more rain this afternoon. We walked into the village when it cleared this morning and picked up a few supplies as well as some more apricots from our farmer, they are just so sweet and juicy. A group of vintage tractors and motorbikes stopped this afternoon to have a drink in the café, what a great collection and they seemed to be a group of younger enthusiasts.
The predicted rain didn’t really set in and finally late in the afternoon we went for a short ride for a bit of exercise, in the direction we will take tomorrow. It was wonderful as we soon came into the grape growing area of the Wachau Valley, reminding us of the Mosel region in Germany. Lots of apricot trees in amongst the vines. The cycle route passed through several delightful villages. Hope that we can have a good ride tomorrow and really see what this area is all about.
Tonight, the local band is performing traditional Austrian music at the Café on the edge of the camp, shame about the intermittent rain, although as the evening progressed and the beer kept flowing there was a great atmosphere.
A few of the vintage tractors and motorbikes that stopped
nearby this afternoon.

On our afternoon ride, vineyards and apricots

Rode through the delightful town of
Schwallenbach.

The band playing tonight, the crowd grew as
the evening progressed

Hello Meg and Ian,
just realized that you are very near. We are spending some days in Krems at a music festival. We want to tell you that Baden is with a visit, there is a great Photo exhibition. Information in the Tourist office.

Thanks Sherry, nothing like mist hanging on hills for some good mood. A bit like the Washington Coast. Had a bit of time and enjoyed having a play.
