Wednesday May 8, Limburg an der Lahn (on the Lahn River)

Ruakiwi parked up for her first night in Germany..on the Road

I know in a few weeks my comments will be about the heat, but right at this moment I would dearly love to see some sun and not have rain drops on the roof!
As promised, the van was ready this morning so Hitten took us to Mercedes to collect it. All good, the exhaust has been replaced and we have had a service and oil change – and I know that will be the last vehicle issues we have this trip!!!
Conny zipped me down to Edeka in her car and I picked up some fresh supplies, packed the van and after plate of chicken soup we were on the road soon after 1. It had been raining off and on all morning with a grey gloomy sky. I had worked out a route taking the motorway around Dusseldorf and Cologne before taking the B road south, but after delays on the motorway and the weather the way it was, we decided to continue on the motorway right through to Linberg arriving at 3.30.  Travelling on a motorway is not our favourite way to travel, you don’t get to see the small towns and observe how people live, but it was the best way today. It was three lanes most of the way, with the inside lane solid with trucks, fascinating to observe their number plates with country of origin – Poland, Romania, Latvia, France, Holland and Germany. And in the fast lanes the cars would go whooshing past at high speed.
Jilly did an admiral job of getting us to the Stellplatz (a German parking area for motorhomes) which was only several km’s from the motorway. Quite a nice small spot beside the river and a short walk to the bridge across to the old town where there are old half timbered houses and a rather nice church. Had planned to walk in and check it out, but decided to give it a miss until tomorrow morning when hopefully the weather will be a little better.
Photos today are just about non-existant, I am blaming the weather!

Thanks for the map. It saves me having to Google where you are. Yes it can't rain forever.
