Tuesday August 15th St Aldegund

A very nice spot beside the river.

Woke to a foggy morning which soon cleared to another warm day although not as much sun. A rather leisurely start this morning heading north towards Cochem. Really enjoy driving along the Moselle, the road follows the river which winds lazily north, the vine covered steep hills above and crossing the river in several places. Spotted a supermarket soon after we left, a good chance for some fresh goodies.

Came to a bit of a traffic jam at the town of Bernkastel-Kues which was heaving with tourists. Spotted two cruise boats in town which no doubt added to the confusion! Pleased to get past and onto the open road again. All along the road we passed hundreds of cyclists on the trails, certainly a popular summer holiday journey.

It was almost two o’clock when we found a rather nice Aire in the town of St Aldegund and once again managed a really good spot just metres from the river, the cycle path passing just in front of us. Got the bikes out after a rather late lunch and another nice cycle north to the town of Senhals and back (only 22kms!!!). Fabulous old towns with beautiful houses.  

…..oooops,  managed to Format the card with todays photos before I had imported them!!! Guess you can imagine what I said!! Sorry I can’t share some photos of todays events but just popped out and grabbed a couple for the blog.
