Wednesday July 20 A trip to Lincoln to pick up Ruakiwi

Crepuscular Rays ( or "God's Rays) this evening.
As I sit here writing the blog this evening, I am looking at Ruakiwi 2 parked just outside, somehow it really feels that we will be on our way before too long! It’s two weeks today since we arrived in UK, and so much has happened, we have seen and done so many things.
Steve arrived here this morning, soon after 9 and after a coffee we drove to Lincoln to Camper UK where the van has been. This is a huge store, with numerous new motorhomes for sale, a very big service centre and a great shop for everything you need for your motorhome. This morning I had been reading a really great blog of an English couple who are currently travelling in Norway and they mentioned their barbecue, with a link to Amazon. This was just what we were looking for, and surprise, surprise Camper UK had one in their showroom, and at the same price. Job done and another tick off the list.
Steve drove Ruakiwi home, firstly with me in the passenger seat and Ian driving behind. Finally, I was on the road, and what a great view. YES!!!! Swapped with Ian and I drove the rental back to Burgh le Marsh. Picked up some filled rolls in the village for lunch, then Steve headed off and Ian and I had a wonderful time, starting to find out how everything works, and deciding where I was going to put things. Kept discovering new cupboards and cubbyholes.
The weather is still really warm and very muggy. The cold beer went down really well when Steve and Kathy arrived, then we all wandered down to the Windmill Restaurant in the village for a really nice meal. Heard the thunder and thought we might be walking home in the rain but after a few heavy spots it all disappeared.

Anyone would think we were in Holland!

Ruakiwi is home!

Brilliant!

I've been enjoying all your news and photos. Gives me an insight into an area I know little about. Now I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip.

Have you got RAWKIWI 2 some name labels/stickers yet? There's a UK company my daughter has used a few times who can make one up. They even have a couple of Mauri stickers: https://www.hippymotors.co.uk/CUSTOM+names%2C+wording%2C+lettering

Thanks Alan and glad you are enjoying our stay in this "neck of the woods". We have brought over a large 80cm sticker with New Zealand written on it and will put that on the back of the van in the next few days. We had Ruakiwi written on the front of the van when we were in USA but decided not to this time round. Ruakiwi in Maori is "two kiwis", but strangely someone read it and thought it said "Are you a Kiwi"!!!

Darn I'll only see that now when I see RUAKIWI. Maybe you should add afterwards 'because we are'... ;o)
