Sunday July 17th
A perfect summer evening, the view of the village from the barn. |
England put on it summer finery today, blue skies, puffy
clouds and a warm breeze, absolutely perfect although Kathy did say to make the
most of it as this isn’t the norm! But tomorrow is going to be 27 degrees and
the day after 32…whew.
A lazy morning, Ian even did some “gardening”, pruning a
few plants in the garden for Steve.
We were invited by Steve and Kathy to join all their
family for their annual summer gathering in the garden of the new property in
Boston. So perfect sitting out under the big oak tree with a breeze keeping us
cool, drinking bubbles and a lunch of “sarnies” and pork pies followed by
strawberries and cake. All the family from Steve’s Mum “Grand D” down made us
so welcome….thanks so much to you all. Enjoyed having cuddles with 3 week old
wee Jessica, a real dot who is so good. It was seven o’clock before we headed
home – a very easy and pleasant 40 minute drive through the countryside.
Steve used his collapsible picnic table when we were at
Burley last week which was just what we need for the van. Ian spotted them
online at Halfords and as they have a store in Boston we called in before going
to the party and they had one in stock. Tick that off the list. It has actually
worked out well having the car to be able to potter around all these places to
find what we are looking for, rather than in the van when parking would be much
more difficult.
Loving the Huawei Mifi unit with it’s 3 Network Sim card,
it’s really working a treat, and very easy to see how much data we are using. It
also great when we are out and about, I take my phone and can turn it on if we
need information on the road. What more can the navigator want!
Picnic and bubbles on the lawn. |
"Gran D" with wee Jessica |
Gran D received some early birthday presents - a new Scrabble dictionay. Evidently she is a champion and plays once or twice a week with friends. |
