Thursday July 21

Started the day early with a visit to the Wa’shum and Dry laundrette in Skegness at 8.30 this morning…as soon as they opened, wanted to be in and out before it got too busy! Had our weekly laundry as well as all the new linen for Ruakiwi that I wanted to get washed. A really nice clean and tidy laundromat and got everything done, although at about 11 pound (or NZ $24) it didn’t come cheap! Anyway all done as well as some supplies to put in the van and home by 11 am.
The weather today has still been warm but a little cooler and much easier to cope with. I spent the rest of the day “playing” around in Ruakiwi, making the bed, and sorting out all our clothes and other gear that hadn’t been unpacked. Ian was into trying to figure out how everything worked, not made easy by the fact that most of the manuals are in German. Have been using Google translate and trying to make a bit of sense out of them. The stereo speakers are amazing, even found a CD from the previous owner, most impressed as some great American Blues Music, hopefully will get to meet them when we get to Germany.
Sat down tonight with a few celebratory drinks in Ruakiwi…the first of many I suspect…and it was good!
Still no sign of the papers, somehow thinking it might be a long wait. As we are not on the road yet as hoped, might not post every day for awhile as we play the waiting game.  But we are so fortunate to have a great place to “sit it out”. Only a couple of photos from this morning’s laundry visit.

Taking the linen for a spin before it takes a spin around Europe, cool.

I'm really enjoying sitting down on a Saturday to see what you've been doing during the week. I hope the nice weather continues for your trip to Scandinavia. I have a friend visiting Oslo and another couple touring above the Arctic circle and both report over 24C! Grey and raining in Auckland today but not too cold at 16C.
Great photos this week - you must have a good camera!(Ha Ha).
Regards
Anne

HI Alan, Haha...love your comment. The mundane things in life can be interesting!

As you wander through the leafy glades and ancient villages of what can only be forever England, pause awhile to admire the churches, cathedrals, castles stretching back into the mists of time, where age seems timeless and life was conducted without the stresses and strains of this modern era, and reflect that the bureaucracy is of a similar age age and speed.Their Latin motto translates as "we may be slow but rest assured we are always wrong".

HI Pam and Lynn, we understand perfectly now....quite unbelievable but we could be in far worse places as we wait. Hope all well a home. XX Meg and Ian
