Tuesday July 12 Boston – Burgh le Marsh

The view from the Barn of the historic town of Burgh le Marsh...and those clouds didn't produce rain!
At a time in our life when we think we are prepared for everything, the most amazing things happen. Just when we are questioning the speed that British bureaucracy moves, Kathy and Steve have told us to hang out for a while in their “barn” about 40 minutes drive away in the small historic village of Burgh le Marsh near the seaside town of Skegness. We collected a rental car and followed them north this afternoon.
The “barn” turns out to be a recently restored old farm stable that is now a one bedroom cottage. Walking through the enclosed lavender circled courtyard the doors open into a beautifully decorated room where you instantly feel relaxed and “at home”! Sitting in the garden we look west through the fields to the village church and even a windmill surrounded by oak trees. Once again I feel the need to pinch myself to believe that we are here. Steve and Kathy, we can’t thank you enough for your generosity.
So what would have been a time of just hanging around and champing at the bit waiting for the paperwork to be completed, is turning into a very special part of our holidays where we will be able to really explore the area and have a relaxing holiday.
We popped into Skegness this evening, very briefly and picked up some supplies, looking forward to tomorrow to go for a walk up the road to the village. There are even a few pubs within walking distance!
A stop in the market town of Spilsby at the Hardware and cook shop that has been open since the 1930's
"Roughing it" in the Barn!
A toast to Kathy and Steve....huge thanks.
