Wednesday October 15 “Bears Pause” Cabin, Mineral City

Sue was up and away early to a business appointment, we packed an overnight bag, and headed off with Ian for a trip to the mountains of North Georgia and their cabin….a drive of about 1 ½ hours. We stopped in the quaint village of Blue Ridge on the way, for a browse in the shops and lunch, before continuing on to their cabin. The last section of road as we climbed up in the mountains was gravel, which so reminded us of New Zealand. Their cabin is just wonderful, nestled in amongst the trees, with unobstructed views over the bush covered hills towards North Carolina, such a peaceful spot. The trees are changing colours but after a dry summer, they are not as spectacular as usual. Sue has done a great job of decorating the cabin in “mountain” style, and it is so welcoming. We sat out on the deck in the rocking chairs soaking up the atmosphere, even managed a walk to the top of the road, and home via a bush track.
Sue joined us later on at the local restaurant, where we had a great meal sitting outside on the deck overlooking the river…I had the speciality which was really good, farmed trout!
