Thursday October 16
Thursday October 16, Atlanta
Another leisurely start to the day, sitting over breakfast watching the morning mist clearing from the valley and hills. We set off late morning for a drive in the surrounding area, with the first stop at Brass Valley Resort, in a very pretty setting in the hills, where we had lunch in the huge dining room.
Sue and Ian had recently been to an Autumn festival at the John Campbell folk art centre which provides week long courses in a huge range of arts and crafts, and enjoyed it so much that they took us back to have a look around. Subjects available included woodworking, painting, writing, stitching, basket making, photography and many more, with a variety of tutors and their gallery featured an excellent stock of work from students and teachers. They encouraged us to wander among the classrooms and see what was being done, it really was quite an amazing atmosphere, and everyone was so willing to share what they were doing.
The day had disappeared on us, so after collecting our luggage from the cabin we headed back to Atlanta. It was such a great way to spend our last full day of our travels. Tomorrow we fly to Los Angeles, then onto New Zealand….time to settle down again until next year!
