Sunday October 16, Pézenas

Well, the predicted light rain didn’t eventuate although it was quite windy and no sign of the sun. It certainly feels like autumn with the leaves from the Plane trees covering the footpaths.

We walked into town this morning and wandered around the myriad of streets that seem to be everywhere and climbed up to the top of the old town which dates from the middle ages. I am still fascinated by these towns with their shuttered windows and old doorways, and the many restaurants and cafes that seem to be around every corner. Had heard that quite a few shops would be open on Sunday morning, but there were very few, so it was a case of window shopping. And tomorrow most will still be shut. Stopped for a coffee and ended up chatting with an English lady who has been living in Pézenas for 18 months and has just bought an apartment nearby. It was really nice to be able to have a good talk without language problems.

Continued our walk around town, and ended up stopping at a café for lunch, most relaxing and making the most of it as this time next week we will be doing our final packing for the flight home.

After a relax at the flat, I set off with my camera, again (!!!!) and had another wander around town, making the most of being so close to these old towns.

Lots of photos from walking around Pézenas today.

Translated this plaque, "Ancient Jewish Quarter...
13th and 14th century. Certainly makes you realise
the history of this town.
