Monday October 10, Villefranche-de-Rouergue

Reflections under the bridge this afternoon.

Not been the best day for Ian, he had diarrhoea last night that has continued today and left him feeling pretty washed out. Thankfully I am fine, so don’t know where he picked it up from. After breakfast I walked down the road to where I had seen a pharmacy only to find it wasn’t open. Called into the Info Centre to get some maps of this area and the girl spoke very good English. I mentioned that the pharmacy was closed and she could tell me that there was only one pharmacy open in town on a Monday and she told me where it was.  Evidently very little is open on Mondays, it is treated like a weekend! Walked to a different part of town and got a girl who spoke English, and she gave me some “concrete” tablets and a gel for him to take. Dosed him up and then I took my camera for a walk around the old town. It truly is old and felt rather desolate today with just about all shops shut, and there seemed to be many empty shops.  The huge square in front of the cathedral showed no signs of life, evidently a big market is held there on Thursdays.

Ended up at a small supermarket and picked up some suitable food for Ian and dinner for me, don’t think we will be eating out for a bit. Went out for another walk later this afternoon along the river, the temperatures in the low 20’s are just so pleasant. Fingers crossed that Ian will be feeling a bit better tomorrow. Thankfully we don’t leave here until Wednesday so hopefully he will be up to driving by then.

The Ironwork dates from 1817

Spotted this in a shop window.

The medieval houses bordering the square with the
cloisters running underneath and dwellings above.
These are still lived in.

Loved this brightly painted door!

Playing with multiple exposures...again!

Autumn is coming

A "chocolate box" picture of the river this afternoon.

Taking the camera for a walk around this historic area would be an absolute joy.
