Wednesday August 3, Trollhattan, Sweden

After a short break, I checked out a few of the locks.

…and today has been little different weather wise, it rained throughout the night, and it just continued. Decided to drive a bit further south to a very good free camping site we found in Trollhattan, beside the old locks. We took the E6 and apart from a stop at a motorway rest area to empty our cassette in their sani-station, and then another break about an hour later for a coffee stop, there is very little to report, and too wet for photos! We are now back in Sweden.

It had eased a bit when we did a shop for supplies as we came into town, and we wound our way through some interesting roads to this spot. And the drizzle continued! It was time after lunch to put our feet up and listen to the rain on the roof. I am hoping that there may be a break in the weather to go for a short walk and get a few photos, but as I write this the drizzle continues. The only plus side is the very pleasant view looking out over trees and mown grass. All in all not a very inspiring day. I think we will stay another day and hopefully can get out to explore this rather interesting area without rain.

….Later, I saw a wee gap in the weather, raincoat on and camera in the bag and walked down to see what these locks were all about. So interesting, appears to be an old lock system and a new one with a few yachts at the bottom waiting to come through. But soon the rain came again and I had to scurry back to the van where Ian was nice and dry!!!

A wet drive on the E6 and time to play with
the camera!!!

Pretty cosy tonight, and there are another 15
motorhomes parked on the otherside of the
road.  Spot Ruakiwi!

Is this 'normal' weather for this time of year? Seems to have rained quite a bit on this part of your trip

Locks are interesting and clever engineering…..and the grungy old ones even better.
