Farewell and a huge thanks to Steve and Kathy |
Finally….on the road again and first night in Ruakiwi!
After a busy day yesterday finishing our sorting of the van, we had a great evening. Every month Steve hosts the Wine Club, which has about 8 members, and last night we were the invited guests. Steve chooses a wine style, each member brings a bottle and they are all sampled and comments made. Last night the wine was the Italian Pecorino and we tasted about 8 bottles, all really nice but very different. It was a fun night with lots of laughs. Kathy and one of the wives went for a walk but I opted to join in the tasting…surprise, surprise!!!
Still getting my body clock adjusted and woke quite early again this morning. Finished off the last bits and bobs and then it was time to say adieu and a huge thanks to Kathy and Steve and we were on the road about 9.30am. We opted for the easier motorway route and had a pretty good trip, except the navigator needs to up her game!!! Had a few hiccups which I put down to my dull head cold head!
Last trip we found this great overnight parking spot beside the harbour, less than 10 minutes from the ferry, so we came again and joined another few motorhomes doing the same thing. So peaceful with the waves lapping and watching the container ships coming and going from the Felixstowe Port.
Early start in the morning for the 9am ferry.
Not a bad spot to stay the night! |
