In the ferry queue at Harwich |
Woke to the 5.30 alarm this morning and off to the ferry to join the queue. Time for brekkie before going through the security gates, then off to our assigned lane ready to board, joining quite a number of motorhomes doing the crossing, where we waited for about an hour before boarding. We book a cabin for the seven hour trip and as the boat food is rather “interesting” I have learnt to pack a bag with some food and a thermos and coffee sachets. So comfortable, we both had a snooze, a good enforced rest time! And thankfully another very easy crossing with very little movement.
Took ages to pass through the Dutch security, but not hassles and soon we were on the road, and the navigator managed getting us through the maze of motorway interchanges with only one small blip at the beginning, which was easily rectified, and in just over an hour we were at the marina where we always stay at the start and end of our travels..
Our great friends, Conny and Hitten from Germany had come to
the marina to welcome us. The kiwi flag was laid out on the bank, and Conny had
Aperol Spritzers ready followed by dinner. How perfect is that! Chairs out and
sat outside till 11pm. A great evening and felt as though we could finally
relax.
Our colds are on the improve thankfully. So far no serious photography, just
iPhone snaps!
Nice cabin |
Arriving at the Port, the sky looked menacing but nothing came of it. |
Conny and Hitten had the flag out! |
