Wednesday August 6, Bad Konigshofen

One of the little villages we drove through today.
Loved these half timbered houses.

Just like the start of our trip, the weather is not really behaving. We have quite a number of rainy days although now it is warmer. Yesterday, after another chat and farewell to Vicki and Dean, the couple we met yesterday from Australia, we were all set to get the bikes out and head off for a ride along the Main River when the heavens opened and continued for much of the day, we didn’t feel like driving in it either so a stay put day, again. I got my coat and umbrella and wandered into the village to get some buns for lunch, also a few other things. Really impressed with this little place, it had all the shops you needed, a baker, a butcher (..but no candle stick maker!), pharmacy, small grocery store, florist, stationery shop, shoe shop and a bank. And it was bustling, people darting in and out of shops as the rain continued. A rather quiet day.
Rain overnight and again this morning, but decided to come to Bad Konigshofen. The first year we were in Germany, we couldn’t understand why so many towns started with the name “Bad”, until we realised that in German it meant a Spa Town. Thought it might be good for Ian’s back to have a soak. We took a lesser road for much of the way, and thoroughly enjoyed the drive. It didn’t rain but the sky looked pretty ominous, great clouds for photography!!! We passed through so many very small villages with their half-timbered houses, as well as a huge area of agriculture. Some quite large farms and a huge amount of cropping.
Arrived at the spa early afternoon, which has a very large motorhome campground beside it. Booked in, and made use of the washing machines for a laundry catch up. After lunch planned for Ian to have a soak in the pools and I would walk into town, but the weather had other ideas, the heavens opened and it just poured so nothing for it but to get the books out. It was after four before it stopped and Ian was off to the pools and I walked into town. It is such a pretty town with lots of flowers and interesting buildings but the grey skies didn’t do it justice. Enjoyed the walk though. Ian enjoyed his soak in the pools but the water wasn’t nearly as hot as we are used to in Rotorua, guess we are spoilt!
Yesterdays view from our campspot, watched
a number of river boats pass by.

Advertising, using an orange wrapped hay bale.

Ominous skies.

Delightful town of Bad Konigshofen

So is it warm water from the ground? Do they steam? Smell of sulphur? The ones in Tufkey didn’t but the water was clear turquoise-
Just curious
