Sunday August 3, Forchheim

A perfect day

Not a lot to report except a really relaxed pleasant weekend at a very good Stellplatz, and plenty of cycling. I think we are slowing down and relaxing with only a few more weeks left before we need to get organised for the end of this year’s holiday. Yesterday was warm but with intermittent showers which saw us racing back to the van with our raincoats on at one stage, but today was a perfect day, sunny and warm. Went for a good cycle in the opposite direction along the canal, really pleasant and with much nicer scenery than yesterday’s ride. There were so many people out on their bikes enjoying a great day for cycling, and easy as the paths are really wide. There are so many older folks riding now with their electric bikes, it has opened up a great form of exercise….and I guess you can class us with the oldies!!
It was getting onto two when we returned and cycled into the old town for lunch. Ended up at an Italian restaurant, and shared a really good pizza and a salad. Late afternoon I hopped on my bike again and went for a burst in another direction. There are cycle paths everywhere and have an app on my phone called “Bike Maps” which shows where the paths are with no chance of getting lost – and as Ian will tell you, I need it! Its been a great weekend.
Wheat harvest underway.

Yummy lunch...

...and a wee wine!

Water reflections under a bridge from the cycle path.
