Monday May 27 Trevignano Romano

Our fellow camper tonight cooking over
his barbecue in the rain...we haven't used
ours at all on this trip, too wet and cold.

To say I am over the weather would be an understatement!!! It bucketed down for much of last night, woke this morning and the rain had stopped….for 5 minutes then I heard it tinkling on the roof again, which it did all day…again!
A few dramas last night when I discovered my Credit Card had been hacked by someone in Canada buying airline tickets!! Got hold of the bank and thankfully they had already picked it up and cancelled the card, but all good as we have two other cards to use. Evidently it will all be refunded, thankfully they have a good fraud team.
With drizzly weather still predicted for today and tomorrow we had another day of “slow travel” as we wait for the rain to stop for Rome.
First stop late morning was Vetralla, and with the rain pouring down we had a coffee break and thankfully it cleared. Donned our raincoats and wandered into this very old Italian town, through the cobbled streets to see what we could find. It was good to get out and stretch our legs after very little activity yesterday. Found a “drapery” store where I spotted yarns along with an “interesting” array of clothing. We popped in as I wanted to buy some Italian cotton yarn as have a project this trip of crocheting market bags using pure cotton. Felt like we had stepped back fifty years as the buzzer on the door announced our arrival. There was a really nice older gentleman behind the counter who spoke a little English and could tell us he had a friend who lived in Christchurch. He opened up boxes of cottons for me to check out and found some yarn that fitted the bill. Quite delightful.
We wandered down the little narrow streets avoided the cars as they beetled past but found nothing else exciting, although enjoyed the walk. Back on the road and before long the drizzle had started again. Stopped in the carpark at the Lidl supermarket in Bracciano for some fresh fruit and vegetables, and a very late lunch in the van before driving on to a campsite we had found on Lago di Bracciano. The roads proved to be extremely busy and Jilly took us on an interesting road to get to the camp so very relieved to be enjoying the wet view of the lake from our van!!!Today’s temperatures reached 17 degrees, hard to believe.
Lots of puddles!

The old town of Vetralla

..and even a few moments of blue sky!
