Out walking.

After a very much up and down day of experiences yesterday, today has been a goodie. We had a very calm night as the only camper parked in the town carpark and slept like logs. I had spotted a bakery as we came into town so before breakfast this morning I walked up to the Peter and Pan Pandoreo to get some bread for the day. What a place, the pastries and cakes were amazing and the bread was still warm. Bought a nice cob loaf and then snuck a treat in too, well we were going for a bike ride so felt we deserved one!!! Meandered back to the van via the old part of town that I had really enjoyed yesterday.
Bikes out and we set off on the Via verdes cycle trail that we joined just behind the parking lot. This followed the old rail trail from the hills down to the coast, so set off uphill first and it was great, lots of ups and downs as we followed the river. Had noticed Ian’s back tyre a bit flat so stopped to try and sort it out, but issues with the valve and the pump. By the time the pump was working, the tyre was flat. Finally got it pumped up but decided to turn around in case there were other issues with the tube. It was still up when we got back to camp so continued on downhill for some distance before returning. Only 15 kms, but really enjoyed it and will certainly be looking for more tracks like it. Have the online maps for locations sorted now.
After a following a lead, we “acquired” an empty Spanish gas bottle this morning which solved all our problems. On our way out of town we called into a very friendly motorhome place who exchanged our empty bottle for a full one and also bought the correct attachment from them. A few weeks ago a lockable drawer pull in the kitchen had broken and we had been using a bungee cord to keep it shut while we travelled. Took the broken part into the store and he had two exactly the same, we bought both so we will have a spare. It really was a great stop.
Then it was off towards the coast where I had found some great write ups about a reasonably new motorhome park that was set in farmland, and it has come up trumps. For €9 a night we are in a great spot, with all facilities as well as free wifi. We overlook the small town and its beautiful monastery and church. I did a load of washing and rather than use the drier I hung it on our line and it was all dry in a few hours. The weather is really nice, very sunny and warm but not uncomfortable.
Ian wanted to rearrange the “garage” to store the extra gas bottle we now have and also fit the catch on the drawer so I wandered off for a walk along the paths through the farmland and out to the coast. It was idyllic walking past the fields of corn and green grass, animals dotted around and finally had a good view of the ocean. Evidently the cliffs are beautiful and the pathways lead back to a beach and the village. That will be for tomorrow on our bikes. It has been a great day.
Yummy!!!
