Monday July 16, Geertruidenberg Marina

Evening in the town square
Today has been a stay put, catch up day which we have really needed. It is really warm, speaking with some locals today they said that Netherlands is not normally as hot as this. Evidently it has been the longest hot and dry spell for 300 years!
Windows open, awning out, and it hasn’t been too bad with a slight breeze. Ian spent quite a bit of the day sorting out his back “garage” and rearranging the bikes to make them easier to get in and out. Planned on a ride but by the time he was finished it was mid afternoon and a siesta seemed a better bet. I caught up on some inside chores and getting organised with my blog etc.
It was such a beautiful balmy evening we wandered down to the historic town square in Geertuidenberg, about a km away, and joined many others sitting outside under the trees and enjoying a cold one at the local café/bar. A really peaceful setting with so few cars passing by, just people out cruising on the bikes, enjoying the evening air. Ended up having a really good tapas platter, cooking when we got home in the heat didn’t seem a particularly good idea!
Pulled the map out and trying to decide what route we will take tomorrow to get to Fischer’s in Elsdorf where we will overnight before our booking at 8am Wednesday to have our satellite dish reconnected. Think we will head south into Belgium then south west into Germany.. I think!
