Just love the French markets

Was having a lazy morning as we are staying put today and was having a lie in, reading my book when there was a knock at the door at 9pm….It was the Gendarme! But only to collect our €5 for staying the night! Spent time catching up with family in NZ then wandered into town and discovered there was a very nice market in the nearby carpark. Lots of food items including mushrooms and truffles and lots of Foie Gras stalls. Thanks Jennifer for mentioning it yesterday, this is a big region for producing it and noticed a number of French Passion sites on farms around here that produce it. Have tasted it and it is very nice, but somehow can’t quite come to grips with how it is produced. Enjoyed the atmosphere in the market which was quite busy. Continued walking through the town and amazed with the houses built into the overhanging cliffs. Lots of tourists around but still very enjoyable.

This chap was selling truffles.

Noticed no bunting celebrating the tour and called into the Tourist Info Centre to discover that the tour doesn’t pass directly through the town but it turns just on the outskirts, about a 20 minute walk away. Wondered if we would try and relocate somewhere else but with the number of motorhomes driving around we decided to stay put and get our bikes out tomorrow and bike to the route.
Had a late lunch at a café on the pavement, not as good as some we have eaten out but still a pleasant way to spend the afternoon people and traffic watching. It has been another very good relaxing day, tomorrow will be busier!
Amazing how the houses are built into the hill.

Glad you tried foie gras but certainly agree about the discomfort re its production
