Monday May 1 – Ardleigh

The gorgeous fields of yellow, taken through the window
as we drove down the motorway

It’s a Bank Holiday today so decided to get on the road early before the holiday traffic built up. With rain on the roof we made the van shipshape and after a cuppa with Kathy and Steve were on the road soon after 8. The traffic was really light and as we took the motorway south, it made for very easy driving on our first day on the road. Stopped at Halford’s in Newmarket to get some new windscreen wipers and a few other bits and pieces, and after a coffee we were back on the road.
The rain had cleared and although it was only 11 degrees, the sun was shining and the countryside was a real picture. Rolling hills, lots of trees and fields of bright yellow rapeseed oil. It really is feeling as though we are “On the Road Again”. Had booked into a camp which is only 30 minutes drive from the ferry terminal in Harwich. We stayed here last year, before and after our crossings and it is a really nice spot. Very quiet, surrounded by trees and fields. After a late lunch have had a very leisurely and lazy afternoon, meandered some of the country lanes and recharged the batteries and all ready for Netherlands tomorrow.
Thanks to 7 year old Alicia for this photo as we said our
good byes to Steve and Kathy

A wet morning in Boston

Pretty county lanes around our nights camp.

New spring growth

Scenes like this are just so English.
