Sunday 6 October, Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood AZ

Desert flowers
"Sorry...this didn't get loaded, now out of order!!!!!"
Have pleasure to report that tonight I am writing this sitting outside under the awning with a cool breeze blowing…and we are not at Walmart! Have a wonderful view down the valley and up to the hills on the otherside and the temperatures are the warmest they have been for some time.
Not a lot to report except decided this morning that we should get organised and find a place to base ourselves near Sedona for 3 or 4 days and to have a good look around this area which is really beautiful.
Spent time online and found this state park that is not far from Sedona, so came down HW 17 and had booked in by midday. We decided to do a day trip back up the scenic Oak Creek Canyon in the next few days, hear that it is an amazing drive.
Felt really weary, guess it is all the frustrations from the past few days, so settled in with a book and had a quiet afternoon.
Before dinner I walked up the hill from the campground, this is real desert country with cacti and surprisingly for the dry conditions many small flower plants, there is a real beauty to the desert. On the way back I chatted with a girl from Pennsylvania, she had just got a new camera the same as mine…..so ended up sitting around the campfire last night sharing stories with Sue.

Great view from the camp, overlooking Cottonwood.
