First job
this morning was to head to the storage yard with Terry and Sherry to see how
Ruakiwi was after 2 years in storage. We had put an RV cover on when we parked
her up and our first sight this morning was of a very shredded cover hanging in
tatters. The guys quickly got rid of the cover and put the batteries back in
which Terry had kept charged for us….and she started first go….relief. Even the
tires were all fully inflated. Sort of expected to find the inside quite stale
and mildewed but it was perfect. The only small problem was a crack had
developed in the front windscreen but that will be easily fixed under
insurance. Whew, we need not have worried about what we would find.
Terry and
Sherry have their new 5th wheel stored in the yard as well, so went
and checked it out….wow, a real house on wheels with 3 slide outs that create
so much space. It really is a great rig.
We followed
Terry back to the house, no issues with brakes and even the tires didn’t feel
lumpy. Ian, with help from Terry spent most of the day fiddling around,
checking everything out and making sure all the appliances, heaters, generators
etc were running but there were no problems at all. I started unpacking our
bags and sorting through the cupboards, amazing how you forget where things are
and finding stuff in the van that I had completely forgotten about. Even found
clothes that I had forgotten we had left. Memo….must make a list of what is
left in the van next time!!!
Had time to
go for a walk with Sherry to pick fresh blackberries which she made into a
wonderful blackberry cobbler for desert…..they just taste so good.
So it
really had been a great day.
