Monday August 15, Cinder Hill Campground, East Lake, OR

Enjoyed a cup of coffee and one of Honor’s fruit and seed scones for breakfast, before they headed off for work and we went to an RV repair place that Jim had used and recommended. Jerry’s RV were really good, and although the were very busy, sent a guy out straight away to check out what was going on and see if it was an easy fix. Thankfully it was, and after checking all the things Ian had, they pulled the batteries out and Ian saw a break in the wire well back from the clip. So within 15 minutes we were all done and back on the road again.

As it was only an hours drive to tonight’s destination, thought a good opportunity to do some shopping for the grandies, and a new suitcase! Bend really is a great town, easy to get around and a good selection of stores, can see why people like living here.

Two lakes, Paulinna and East were formed following an eruption when the volcano collapsed forming a caldera, very similar to Crater Lake that we visited several weeks ago, although the lakes are very accessible. The area surrounding this has many lava flows making an interesting landscape.

Ended up finding a really nice campground at the end of the road, with a site right on the lake. The sun was pouring in and people were swimming and boating on the lake, surprised at how warm the water was but didn’t get tempted to have a swim! Gathered a bit of fire wood on the way to the camp so had a really good fire tonight, mind you we are at 6000 feet and the temperatures dropped pretty quickly one the sun went down.
