Sunday July 10, Anacortes

Three weeks after setting off we have completed our first leg, somehow couldn’t pass by catching up with Terry and Sherry before we head off East tomorrow.

Have had another leisurely (or maybe should say lazy) day, the weather is just perfect, warm and sunny and in the low 20’s. It was such a great spot to camp last night, very peaceful and quiet, and Ian was able to wander around the grounds again, checking out the sawmills…again!!!

Meandered back into Bellingham to do the weeks laundry. I find Laundromats quite intriguing places with the range and ethnicity of the people using them. Everyone is friendly but just get on with the job to be done, and they sit around waiting, reading old magazines, texting or looking just plain bored.

Just so happened that Barnes and Noble (the huge book sellers) had a store just over the road….seemed a shame not to pay a visit. Such well laid out stores with books on everything you could every imagine.

By mid afternoon we were on the I5 motorway south to Burlington, the turnoff to Anacortes. Called in to a store to get a few things to take out to the Barber’s and as we were leaving heard a siren behind us, and no they weren’t wanting to pass but wanted us to pull over!!!! I nice very young officer came around to the window and asked did we know why he had pulled us over. We had no idea, and he said that we had run a red light!!!! Knew we had gone through an orange but definitely not a red. Obviously he liked us and after checking out Ian’s licence and our certificate of insurance said he wouldn’t issue a ticket. Thank you, thank you Sir! I felt it wasn’t appropriate to ask for his photo.

Lots of catching up with Sherry and Terry about our travels and odd hiccups. We joined them at their friends for a wonderful evening of Pizza’s and wine, a good end to another good day.
