Anacortes Update…Wednesday June 15
Sorry, no updates for a few days, somehow haven’t been taking many photos either, time with the family seems to be more important. And nephew Sean arrived from New York on Monday night, the last time we had been together was 4 years ago in New Zealand.
We all went to dinner on Monday at a new seafood restaurant overlooking the marina in Anacortes. The sun was shining, and the views from our table out over the harbour were magnificent. Went to grab my small G10 camera out of my handbag, only to realise that I had left it back at the house. The menu was amazing, so many varieties of fish making a hard choice and we all ended up having something different. I had Hawaiian mahi mahi served with a macadamia nut sauce, very moist and good. Lots of laughs as the six of us piled into Terry’s ute and managed to squeeze Sean in as well when he arrived on the shuttle from Seattle.
Yesterday Sherry and Terry’s daughter and family came out from Seattle, we had met them last year, so another good catch up. A real family occasion with 11 of us sitting around the table for supper.
Sadly had to say goodbye this morning to Ian and Sue as they headed back to Atlanta, so enjoyed spending time with them, but Sean is staying on until Friday.
Dinner tonight is fresh Coon striped shrimps and spot prawns bought directly from the fishermen, its going to be a rude awakening when we get on the road and I have to get back into cooking again!

Ruakiwi is now sporting six new tyres (ouch!!), the first we have had to put on her. Today she had the exhaust on the generator repaired and is staying in the garage overnight waiting on a new filter to arrive in the morning. Then we will be ready to head off on the 8.30 ferry on Friday morning to Vancouver Island.
Sherry and I went to nearby Burlington this morning on a very successful shopping excursion. Arrived home with a few extra parcels including some really lightweight Merrell walking shoes, can’t wait to try them out. The weather has been quite a bit cooler than we expected, and the last few days have been quite grey, but finally the sun came out this afternoon and we all soaked it up on the front deck which overlooks all the comings and goings in Fidalgo Bay.
