Picture postcard view in the centre of Gorinchem

Today has been perfect with temperatures hitting 30 degrees but we are enjoying it. A few chores this morning then bikes out and into town. I am sure I have a permanent smile on my face when I’m on my bike, this is just the best way to get around town and do the shopping. Rode into the centre which is actually pedestrian only, bikers get off and push theirs through, although Ian still rides his!. Lots of great little shops and a real vibrant atmosphere. And there are canals everywhere. There is a lock entering town with canal boats everywhere and pink and orange geraniums hanging over the bridges. Music was playing and everyone was out enjoying the sunshine.  We continued through to the supermarket and picked up some supplies, loaded the panniers and off back to camp for lunch.
Headed back into the centre again later in the afternoon as I needed to pick up a few more things and Ian found a good seat overlooking the inner basin and lock. Then we were off out of town on a bike track following the river before meandering through the streets back to camp. Love the fact that even on busy roads there is always a bike track and cyclists even have their own route around a roundabout.
Very hot in the van late afternoon so once again chairs up on the river bank, a few cold ones and watched the never ending traffic traveling up and down the river. This is such a relaxing way to spend the last week of this year’s travel.
Love the flowers

Good to see that you two are still on the road. You may remember that we came across you in Washington State about 5 years ago. We were driving our Born Free going west on Rte2 and passed you going east in your rental Born Free. We pulled into an orchard to buy some cherries and you two turned around and came back to introduce yourselves. We had a good visit and then went our separate ways. You said at the time about plans to go to Europe for similar exploration along waterways in a boat. Looks like you have done just that.
We love your blog. Safe travels!
